Paper / Field guide

Practice with context.

Paper is a paper trading workspace for Solana. Explore real market quotes, use virtual SOL and keep a record of the decisions you make.

Open the terminal ↗Install the extension

Your first paper trade.

  1. Open the terminal. A new browser starts with 10 virtual SOL.
  2. Search a token name or paste its Solana mint. Token names are not unique. Check the full contract through the address link.
  3. Choose an amount in SOL. The displayed buy amount is your total spend, including estimated fees.
  4. Press Paper buy. Paper waits for your chosen execution delay, refreshes the quote and records the fill.
  5. Switch to Sell to exit a percentage. Review your entries and exits in the journal and UTC calendar.

What a paper fill means.

Prices are observations from public market APIs or a verified public quote on the active terminal page. Paper does not send transactions or simulate a blockchain transaction. It records an arithmetic fill using an observed price, your chosen fees, execution delay and slippage tolerance.

Default assumptions

  • Trading fee: 1% per fill.
  • Slippage tolerance: 30%. If the price moves against your order by more than this during the delay, the order is cancelled. Favorable changes are retained; the tolerance is not an automatic price penalty.
  • Priority fee: 0.001 SOL per fill. Tip: 0.001 SOL.
  • Execution delay: 350 ms before checking the current quote.

Adjust these values and your presets in Settings. Preset buttons submit virtual orders in one click by default. In the web terminal, turn off Instant paper trades from preset buttons to use presets only to fill the order amount. The extension uses instant presets and provides separate buy and sell fee and slippage settings. They are practice assumptions, not a quote from the underlying DEX. Pool liquidity, price impact, failed transactions, ordering, MEV and pool-specific fees are not reproduced.

Cost and profit

A buy deducts your entered SOL amount. Fees are removed from that amount before calculating received tokens. Sell proceeds are credited after fees. A partial exit removes the same proportion of the remaining cost basis; realized PnL is the net proceeds minus that allocated cost. Refills are separate funding entries and never profit.

Recover initial spend estimates the percentage needed to recover what you spent during the current open position, after subtracting net proceeds from earlier partial sales. It stops offering another recovery once that spend has already been recovered. If the remaining position cannot cover the outstanding amount after fees, it sells up to 100%. Rounding and market changes can affect the result.

Paper trading is practice. A positive paper result is not proof that the same execution or return is possible with real money.

Where the data comes from.

DEX Screener supplies token search, priced pools and market observations. For multiple pools, Paper selects the highest reported liquidity from the returned Solana pools. It verifies the token or pool address. USD token prices are converted using an observed SOL/USD price.

GeckoTerminal supplies 5-minute candles when available. If historical candles cannot be loaded, the chart records observations from the moment you open the token. New quotes update the current candle; unobserved time intervals are not invented. Historical candles refresh while the terminal is visible. The B/S markers on Paper’s own chart show recorded virtual fills at their execution time and USD price. Older imported fills without a recorded USD price are omitted. Third-party charts are not modified.

The web terminal refreshes observations approximately every 20 seconds while visible. The extension refreshes all held tokens in batches approximately every 10 seconds and can react sooner to a verified current-token price displayed by the host terminal. Open positions show current value and unrealized PnL separately from realized results. Missing or stale quotes make valuation incomplete rather than showing a false zero. Orders check quote freshness again after the simulated delay. Providers can cache data, so a client observation time does not guarantee exchange-level latency.

A new or unindexed token can be traded in the extension when the host exposes a verifiable exact-mint USD price and a fresh SOL conversion is available. A market-cap number alone is not a token price. Without a usable quote, or during a network outage, orders pause. Paper never invents a price or token supply.

Your wallet, on this device.

The website uses browser storage for balances, positions, settings and history. The extension has its own separate wallet. There is no sign-in, cloud synchronization or real wallet connection.

Use Export wallet to download a JSON backup. Import from the Journal to move your extension wallet into the website, or to move between browsers. Imports replace the current wallet after validation; export the current one first. There is no automatic merging. A reset or import cancels orders still waiting to be recorded, including orders submitted in another tab.

A refill adds virtual SOL without affecting trading PnL. Settings also offers a fresh start, with explicit confirmation. Clearing site data, uninstalling the extension or losing the device removes the local wallet unless you have a backup.

Trading is supported up to 200 open positions and 20,000 ledger entries per wallet. These protect browser storage and responsiveness. Export before starting a new wallet. The journal displays the latest 500 entries; export includes all entries.

The same wallet, a wider view.

Open My PnL, then open Paper from your browser toolbar. In Settings, use Connect website and approve the current Paper website. Your dashboard connects automatically and shows the extension's paper balance, positions, live PnL, fills and daily realized results.

This connection is read-only. The website cannot trade, reset your wallet or change extension settings. Disconnect from the dashboard or revoke access in Settings. Records remain local to this browser profile; another device does not automatically share this wallet. The website-only trading terminal keeps a separate wallet and journal.

Use it alongside your terminal.

The extension adds a movable Paper panel to supported Solana token pages in Fomo, Axiom, Terminal / Padre, GMGN and Photon, with adapters for ten more platforms listed in the installation guide. Pool routes are resolved to their exact token mint. Use the toolbar popup for manual contract entry when a page is not supported.

The panel disappears on Pulse, home, search and other pages without an active token. Switching tokens clears the previous quote. Pending orders from the old token page are cancelled before they can be recorded.

Only buttons inside Paper submit virtual orders. The host website's original trading controls keep their normal behavior. Paper neither reads your wallet keys nor clicks the host's trade buttons.

Multi-chart layouts can show several tokens. Paper follows the recognized page route and verifies the contract associated with a displayed quote; it does not assume every visible price belongs to the selected token. Confirm the contract shown in Paper before an order.

Installation guide ↗

Mobile and browser support.

The web terminal supports current desktop and mobile browsers with JavaScript and local browser storage enabled. Desktop Chrome and Edge use the shared unpacked package. Firefox 140+ uses a separate package with an event-page background. Its unsigned download can be installed temporarily through about:debugging and is removed on restart. A Mozilla-signed XPI is required for persistent installation and is not provided in the current download. Mobile users can use the web terminal.

If the panel is empty, refresh the token and check the network status. If storage is blocked, allow site storage. If a trading platform changes its routes, paste the contract manually while using the web terminal as a fallback.
